Department of Natural Resources (DNR) approves Lake Eau Claire to clean out sand traps

Due to the combined efforts of the Lake Eau Claire Association, Inc., and the Lake Eau Claire Protection and Rehabilitation District, the Department of Natural Resources has changed its mind and recently approved our permits to clean out the sand traps on the north side of our lake. The traps include sites at the mouth of Hay Creek, Bed Post Creek, and the Swimming Beach Creek. This work was done under the authority of our lake district; however, the lake association volunteered to organize the work and donate the funds needed to pay for the work.

LEC Protection & Rehabilitation District Information

The Lake Eau Claire Protection and Rehabilitation District was formed in 2013 and held its first annual public meeting on August 17, 2013. The purpose of the District is to work to protect the lakes ecology.

EC River Watershed Coalition

There are five major impoundment lakes along the course of the Eau Claire River and numerous tributary streams which are part of the river basin. All of these work in concert to control things such as sediment and nutrient loads, fisheries and wildlife habitat, and resources connected to recreation and agriculture.
